A birthday card

Good afternoon ladies - I hope you are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend, if it is one where you live.

Today I have a birthday card I made recently using a technique I haven't use in a long time;

The background is a stamp from Carolines Stamps & is one of her early texture mats (of which I have quite a few).  I particularly like this one because there are several places on the image that this technique can be done.  I stamped the image in black archival ink & heat embossed with clear EP. Next I stamped it again but only inking the large flower which I cut out & coloured.  The flower was then placed in its original position over the black & white area & run through an embossing folder. This does 2 things it embosses the whole design but also embeds the cut out into the main image. I then coloured some white ribbon with the same pen as the flower & wrapped it around the image. The bow was made with a Tattered Lace bowmaker. I cut another piece of card just slightly larger than the image & coloured the edges with the same pen then layered the 2 together.  It was then added to the white base card, along with a sentiment & some gems to complete it.

Thank you for popping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

a birthday card

Good morning

Today I have a nice clean & simple card to show you;

I recently watched someone demonstrating masking to a group of ladies & it reminded me that I had not used the technique for a while, so that helped me make up my mind how I was going to create this card.

From a spare piece of card I die-cut an aperture, the added advantage is that the centre piece is ready for using as a topper on another card.  I then laid the aperture over the card & brushed Crushed Olive & Stormy Sky Distress Inks through it.  Next the image was stamped in black & embossed with clear EP. Finally I coloured the flowers with some felt pens that had colours almost matching the Distress Inks.  A little flower & a "Happy Birthday" complete the card.

'Bye for now.

a fun card

Good afternoon everyone.

My son recently celebrated his birthday & I made this fun card for him

He - like many of us - just loves the minions, they appeal to his sense of humour.  I found some images on the Internet & because I was using them for a personal card rather than a card for sale I think I am OK using them.  I did search for Royalty Free prints - so I also assume that they were.

I thought they lent themselves well to a stepper card & the little heart shaped badge in the centre I bought in Jersey when on holiday recently.

The big thing is - he is not a child, in years that is - he is grown man, bless him.

Thank you for stopping by - I hope you found this card amusing & will call again soon.
'Bye for now.

Anniversary card

Good morning everyone & it is looking quite sunny here in North Wales this morning - I do hope it lasts over the weekend.

Today I have another anniversary card for you. This week our son & his wife (Russ & Nadine), celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary & here is the card I made for them;

I decided on a stepper card & for it to be very clean in design, so there are no background papers just a coloured card behind the central die-cutting, then the same card used for the other die-cut embellishments.

The corner dies are from Tonic, the hearts from Marianne & the Greeting by Crafter's Companion.  Unfortunately in one respect the greeting is rather large & therefore I did not have enough room to put the Happy there as well.  Instead I used a gold peel-off Happy & then added a couple of gold peel-off hearts as embellishment.

Thank you for stopping by I do hope you enjoyed your visit.

new follower - where has this been?>

I have just had blogger shut down on me for no apparent reason, but when it came back it looked to me like nothing had been disturbed.  But there in the Draft Post box was an item.  I opened to see what it was thinking it was a copy of what I had been writing at the time it shut down.  But no - it was a post which I had originally written back in November 2014 which I was sure had posted.  well it is not there in the archive - so I thought better late than never - it was to welcome a new follower.

Sorry Marie-Louise

A special card

Hello everybody, I hope you are all well.

Today I have a special card to show you - the one I made for our anniversary;

As you can see it has a little "30" in the lower right-hand corner, that is because we were celebrating 30 years of being together, but there is a little difference in this anniversary card ........

................. another card inside for our wedding anniversary.  Bob & I have been together for 30 years but only got married 2 years ago. Just a bit slow to make up our minds  :)

A close up of the wedding anniversary card.

The die cutting was done with a Couture die set called Adore from C&C.  I had fallen in love with the linked hearts closure & knew it was just right for this card, plus the heart - which is cut in 2 halves on the smaller card is also part of the set.  The embossing folder I used was one from Tattered Lace.

Thank you for visiting my little blog - please call again.

catching up

Hello everyone I hope you are having a good Bank Holiday weekend.

A few days ago I returned from a really lovely holiday in Jersey & have some photos to share with you once I have loaded them on to my laptop.  In the meantime here is a recent birthday card I made;

The stamped image is one from Kaisercraft.  It is one of their long slim designs which I really love & this one in particular looks good stamped right at the edge of the background paper.  The flourishes & the flowers are both stamps from Dreamees & are another make I really like using.  The flourishes were stamped & embossed & then the flowers stamped, embossed & cut out using a matching background paper.  A tiny gem in the middle sets the flowers off.

I have some photos of other cards I have made recently & will start showing you those tomorrow.

Thank you for stopping by I hoped you enjoyed your visit.
