Some recent cards made

Good morning everyone.  f you have this rather grey, windy & wet day that I have here I hope you are keeping warm & dry.

Today I have a couple of recently made birthday cards to show you.

The floral corner image along with the verse is a new stamp set I bought recently.  The idea of the torn front came from a little time spent browsing Pinterest sites. I cannot remember what was in the top corner of the one I saw, but I thought it an ideal area to place the sentiment.

This card uses an image that is one of a set of 4 from Pinflair.  I love their vintage look.  the image was stamped in black ink & then I embossed it with clear EP.  I stamped & coloured the large central flower again & placed it on sticky pads over the original.  The finished image was placed on kraft card, then layered onto black & again kraft. This was placed on a black card that I had embossed with an edging folder.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Poppies

Hello everyone & today I have another recently made birthday card to show you.  I am pleased to say that it appears my mojo has returned & ideas are coming a little easier & quicker -- thank goodness.

I stamped the whole image in black ink & coloured it with Promarkers. I then stamped again the central poppy head, coloured it & cut it out.  I used a labels die & cut around the image, then also cut a slightly larger one in black card for a layer.  This was then layered onto the red scalloped edge card & the poppy head placed on top with sticky pads.  A little happy birthday greeting under the image completed it.

Thank you for visiting my little blog space, please call again.

a 40th birthday card

Good evening everyone.

Today I have photos for you of the 40th birthday card I have made - the first of many of the special cards that are waiting to be made this year.

The card is a 6x6 square & I have embossed a frame on the front.  The floral image I stamped in black & then cut out close to the design.  I then coloured it with some water colour crayons I have - they are Caron d'Ache (I think I have spelt that right).  I decided this card needed something in the white space at top right so decided to stamp the whole greeting there.  The verse & happy birthday are all one stamp.

For the inside I placed some lilac / purple card, which I had also embossed with the frame & then added the happy birthday die cut.

I hope you like it, thank you for stopping by.

Christmas Poinsettia

Oh no! another week has gone by since my last post.  I really must pull my finger out.

I thought I would show you a couple of photos of the Poinsettia I bought to decorate our home with this Christmas.

I absolutely love these plants, but so often they don't survive very long.  I have learnt over the years that expensive is not always the best - so for sometime now I have been buying them from Asda. This one I bought at the beginning of the first week in December - isn't it beautiful?

The photos I took ...................... this morning.  Hasn't it done well!

As I said - Asda bought & for only £2-50.  The ones in the garden centres were upwards of £6-50. Some years ago I managed to keep a Poinsettia through to late April, so it will be interesting to see how long this one lives for.

Now that I have the photos I am going to create a page for this Christmas using Serif Craft Artist, which I love using, but haven't done so for a while.  I am hoping I will be able to create not only a special page for it, but some nice background papers that I will be able to use on my cards next year. We will see - all I need is to schedule my time properly.

I hope if you have any of the snow, we seem to be getting on & off here in North Wales, that you are keeping warm & safe.  Thank you for dropping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Re-organisation of stash

Goodness - I cannot believe it is a week since I last blogged.  Here we are in a new year & already time is flying.

I have been busy over the last few days reorganising the way I store my dies & embossing folders. The folders & boxes I had been storing the dies in had got unwieldy, which they will of course by the nature of the dies being made from metal.  But the method I had been using although useful I found wasn't easy to use when looking amongst the dies for the ones I wanted.  The "pages" seemed to stick to each other, despite also being in poly pockets in one of them.

I have given a new lease of life to a great folder that I had been keeping some of my smaller embossing folders in.  By cutting up the magnetic sheets into 4 pieces they easily slotted into the pockets in this folder.  Also because the pockets have a sturdy fabric base - things don't stick to each other - so searching through the pages is much easier.

Here are some photos;

Just a little sample of what it holds from a total of 40 pockets.

I have also been busy making cards which I hope to show you shortly, after they have been received by the people they were made for.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

alcohol inks & aluminium tape

Good afternoon everyone.

I have a card to show you that is a sample for one of my clubs.  At one of our meetings over the next couple of months we are gong to revisit alcohol inks, & will be using them on Aluminium tape.  I haven't used them myself for quite a long time so it was good fun getting them out again & hoping I could remember how to use them.

Here is the card;

Now that I look at the photograph I can see I still have to hone my photography skills, as the right hand edge looks wobbly & it isn't.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

cards for 2015

Good morning everyone.

Well the new year card making is upon me & I have three cards to show you today.  Two were made using techniques that had been covered recently.

This card uses the triple-time stamping technique, which I really enjoy doing.  A nice CAS card.

Another technique covered recently - white-wash technique.  This for me works really well on Kraft card, especially when layered onto black.  But it also looks good on black card as well.

This one I made for my husband who had a birthday a couple of days ago.  I used a mix of CD images with stamped images.  Very pleased with the outcome.

I have quite a lot of birthday cards to make during this month so really must get my thinking cap on. Then later in the year there are several 50's, 60's & 65th birthdays, as well as a Golden wedding anniversary & a wedding.

It might be a good time to tidy my craft room - so I know exactly where everything is.  Off to start work on that now.

this morning ....

... & the chance to take my first photo(s) of 2015.

I love taking photos of nature in all its forms & this morning got the chance for my first sunrise of the year.  This was the view over my back garden at about 7:55 this morning;

Beautiful.

Next stage an album page - probably made through Serif Craft Artist.

Happy New Year everyone.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone

Wishing you health & happiness in 2015
