Almost White Christmas ............

............... just a day late, but still counts.

This was my back garden at about 4:30 - 5:00 pm today (Boxing Day)

Every so often during the evening we went into the dining room to look at the view & then about 8:00 pm it changed -

Yes this is the actual colour.  We think a neighbour behind us had some lights on that turned the view this yellow colour - but it was really magical.

Oh, some great photos to add to the memory box.

When we viewed this house 21 months ago, it was just after a great snowfall & the garden was under about 6" of snow.  Great memories.

Christmas card

Good evening everyone - I hope you are all well.

Recently I succumbed to an offer of embossing folders on Create & Craft - the ones by Tattered Lace. So I felt I really should start using them.  There are a mixture of designs including two Christmas ones.  So I selected one of those to use - because in fact I did need a couple more cards.  You wouldn't think that I have a very clear list to go by when creating my Christmas cards each year - but I do.  Still I manage to miscount as I make them.

Here is the card I made;

I just love this embossing folder & the impression is so clear & deep.  I was again looking for a clean & simple design & looking at my dies to decide what I would use I spotted the Christmas Tree die & as most of my other cards were Christmas tree based I thought I would use it.  I think the make of the die is Memory Box - it is very thin & as you can see - with very fine detail.  It cut perfectly from silver mirri card.  The Merry Christmas die is from the Christmas cracker set from Tonic.

So, I am looking forward to using the other embossing folders once I start on 2015 birthday cards, wedding cards, thank you cards & so on.

Thank you for stopping by today.

final Christmas design

..actually that isn't true, as I haven't decided yet what design to use for family.

Good evening everyone I hope you are all well.

Here is the "final" design of the Christmas cards that I am sending out;

I wanted something really clean & simple.  The front of the card has been embossed with the "dots" folder, then the topper has been stamped & embossed in silver with a Christmas Tree stamp which was a freebie, & part of a set.

I recently purchased the Tattered Lace essential dies - squares, rectangles, ovals & circles.  Actually the squares were part of their Panorama die set - which I just fell in love with.  It certainly made the layering on this card a lot easier.

I stamped the tree then die cut it with one rectangle die, then I went up one size & cut a plain white layer, then up another size & cut the silver layer.  The silver & white layer are adhered flat on the card, with the tree layer placed on sticky pads.

I am pleased with this design & completed 17 of them today - if I need more cards (hopefully I haven't miscalculated again) - it will be of this design.  Just the inserts to do - then into the post.

That is me for today, it's a weekend again - so please have a great time & thank you for visiting today.

two more Christmas cards

Good evening everyone.

I can't believe there are now only 2 weeks to go.  This time in 2 weeks we will be sat quietly recovering from a great Christmas meal & all the work that has gone before & finally relaxing & enjoying the company of family.

Today I had a lunch to attend & when I put the cards together to take with me realised I had miscalculated & needed to make 2 more in a little bit of a hurry.  So they needed to be quick, clean & simple.

Every year I have on standby a small pack of cards - you never know if you will need them.  So they came in very handy for this shortfall.  No! I didn't just write in a shop bought card -  I recycled them.

I cut the trees of the front of the cards - found some background paper that went very well with them. I then edged the paper with gold peel-off borders to lift it from the base white card, added a gold star & greeting.

Not sure what I was doing when I photographed the lower one - the bottom edge looks weird - but I can assure you it was straight & evenly placed.  Looking at it now I wish I had had time to add a little glitter.

Hopefully I will have another of my designs to show you tomorrow - then I think that is me done - except for family cards & I can't show you those until after Christmas.

Have a lovely evening & thank you for visiting.

more Christmas cards

Good evening everyone - yes, I am still making Christmas cards, but time is running out I know. I mainly have the ones that I will be handing out left to do - & just about finished on those that are to go in the post.

They are both from pre-cut sheet sets.  I must have bought them earlier in the year & had almost forgotten about them.  I still had some of the gold embossed parchment left from an earlier project - so used that for background papers.  The frames have been glued flat & the centre panel is raised on sticky foam pads, for a little more interest.

I have some more to show you tomorrow.  Thank you for visiting today.

Another snowman card

I am sorry if my postings are a little erratic at the moment - but there is so much to do approaching Christmas.  Whilst I still have quite a bit of card making to do - I also have to look at what is needed fort the festivities here at home.

One of the cards I worked on today was another of those snowman cards;

This one I stamped in black ink on a strip of white card, then I stamped another one & coloured it red & green.  This one I cut around the image & adhered it over the outline design with foam pads.  The strip was then adhered to the base card & red border peel-offs adhered down the sides.  I found these lovely broad Happy Christmas peel offs & decided to place them on the card, on the side.  There is glitter on the bobble of the hat & the trim of the hat.

Another card I made today was for a very elderly cousin & I used one of the Pollyanna Pickering sets that I have - but because it was important to get it in the post - I forgot to photograph it.  I have another similar image left - & may be able to reproduce another card in a similar style.

That is me for today - thank you for visitng.

Another Christmas card design

Good afternoon everyone - well it was very wintry looking this morning here in North Wales - lots of frost & it is quite cold too.

Today I have another of my chosen Christmas card designs to show you;

I have used the same  base card as the one I showed yesterday complete with the same embossed front.  This time I have stamped & embossed in gold, a star image with a bow on top.  This bow is looking a bit wonky I think I might have knocked it when I was taking the photograph.  I also stamped & embossed in gold, the word Joy, above & below the star.

I have one more of this style to show you which I will do tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting today.

Sorry sorry ........

.... that I have been absent for a while - but I have been under the weather.  I developed a rather nasty cough which eventually deprived me of my voice.  I am just beginning to get my voice back - you know the state - one minute you whisper, then you make a strange loud noise.

I appreciate I don't need my voice to blog - but I was just not feeling up to it.

Anyway I thought now I am feeling brighter I would drop in & show you one of the Christmas cards I made recently.  I say one - I actually made a batch the same.

I embossed the front of a scalloped edge card with a folder that has snowflakes surrounding an open plaque.  For this one I chose a Christmas tree that has a sort of lacy pattern on it - here's a close up.

The tree was put on the card with foam pads & a couple of gems for some sparkle.  Then I stamped & embossed Noel in gold.

I have two other styles to show you, so another one tomorrow.

Thank you for stopping by today I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Christmas cards

Good evening everyone - goodness I hadn't realised a couple of days had gone by without me writing something.  Where is this time going?

I have finally got around to creating some Christmas cards with rubber stamping - rather than paper kits & thought you might like to see the first design I am using.  As I make rather a lot of my Christmas cards & never start early enough - the rubber stamped ones are made in batches of the same design.  Although sometimes I do manage to put a slightly different twist to it.

The base card is a 6x6 square & I embossed it using a holly embossing folder.  I can't remember what make the bauble stamp is but there are several in the set.  It might even have been a freebie set from a magazine.  The words are separate & there is a choice of what you put in that centre panel.  It looked a little lacking when I laid it all out & so I went off & searched through background papers & found this gold embossed vellum pattern.  Just right.

I hope your card making is going well & that you are more organised than me.

Another card design to show you tomorrow.  'Bye for now.
Thank you for stopping by please come back again soon.

A "me" day

Good evening everyone - today I had one of those wonderful "me" days, where I attended a workshop along with my friend Caroline.  We went to "Inkymits" which is run by Maria Simms in order to make a decorated canvas.

I have made a couple of canvases recently but the attraction of this one was that the base colour was to be black.  I have seen several on the Internet but to get the black base they have used Bitumen. But not on this workshop - we used black acrylic paint.

Here are the photos as the canvas progressed;

The basic canvas with dictionary paper - scrunched - & embossed paper & card glued on.
I find it very difficult to use pages out of a book - but can cope with these as it wasn't me that tore them out.  Daft isn't it.

This is the canvas with the various embellishments laid on it in approximately the places I wanted them to be.

I took this photo so I could look back at it to glue them back in the same design.

Here they are glued down - & yes it is not quite the same as previously planned.

The difficult stage - not really, just terrifying - black acrylic paint all over the design.
Yes I know there are bits of white & brown showing but that won't matter.

this is the first stage of adding colour to the canvas.
I have highlighted the crinkles in the paper & the raised areas of the embossed card with gold shimmer paint.  Also added it to some of the areas of the embellishments.

Next I added some bronze paint & a dark brown (whose colour name I don't remember), then finally russet .

Finally I went back in with the gold to really make it pop & lighten it up,
& here it is ....................

I am so thrilled with the result.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog space, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Please call again.

more Christmas cards

Good evening everyone

I have some more cards to show you today but not from Hunkydory or Pollyanna Pickering this time. A few months ago a stamping colleague told me about Clipart Fairy who do a lot of digital downloads.  Whilst looking through the items on their website I found some delightful little Christmas Post Cards, so promptly ordered them along with quite a lot of other things too.

Today I finally got around to using them. Yesterday I took the images into Serif Craft Artist 2 & created some A4 sheets with 4 images on.  Then I loaded the post cards again & cropped them to produce just the little characters so I could decoupage them.

I photographed them in groups of 6;

I stamped & embossed "Joy to the World" in gold on the right hand half of the post card & then layered them onto 6x4 scalloped edge cards.  To finish I cut around the extra characters leaving a very narrow edge, & using sticky pads placed them over the original image.  As it is Christmas I added some glitter to all the furry & snowy parts of the image.

I was asked if I could make some cards to hand out to regular members of a monthly lunch club I attend - I think these will do perfectly.  I won't know how many will be needed until closer to the date - which will be in about the second week of December - so I think I will do a few more & use them myself if any left over.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

more Christmas cards

Hello everyone

Some more photos for you of cards made with the Hunkydory Christmas pack;

As this was a slightly larger topper I used a larger square card & felt that it needed more on it (without going over the top) so I used the matching smaller topper as well & the border strip.

I think I may already have shown this one - it is so easy to lose track of it all.

This design just called for a DL card & again I layered the background (which is an off cut of one of the background sheets) onto gold paper.  I also layered the topper onto the gold paper for a focal point, & added a round sentiment.

I still have another 4 to show you from this pack & will write about those tomorrow.  I have made a total of 13 so far & there is one large topper left to use.  Also some of the background papers have really nice designs which I can use for more cards. So, all in all a very good value pack.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Please call again.

a birthday card

The card I am showing you today was for my daughter-in-law  who had a birthday last week.

I had purchased some new header dies by Tonic & thought I would use one of those for her card; I used white card to make a gatefold card & used the header die on each side edge.  I then lined it with pink paper & added a greeting & a flower on the inside.  To help to keep the card closed I made a wrap using another flower die cut to close the wrap as I had cut the piece of card very close to the exact measurement.

One of the dies has a winter message so will probably be just right for some Christmas cards.

I have made some more of those Hunkydory cards up & will show them to you later. Plus on a visit to The Range close-ish to where I live, I bought 3 Pollyanna Pickering card kits.  I do love her work. I have started putting them together so will have more photos to share later.

Thank you for visiting my little blog - I hope you enjoyed your stay & will call again.
'Bye for now.

notelets box

Good evening everyone - I do hope you are wrapping up warm now that the cold weather is creeping in.  When I got in my car this evening after a club night meeting - the car display said beware icy roads & gave the temperature as 2.5 degrees!!!!

I thought this evening I would show you the little box of notelets that I made yesterday -

This is the front view.
The pack came with a little velcro fastener which I still have to put on to keep the flap closed.

This is the back & top view.
The 2 sides have similar panels to the top panel as well.

The box with 3 of its notelets.

The box again with the other 3 notelets.

It really is a pretty little box & I have the pieces to make a second one.  This one is going to be a raffle prize at a lunch I am going to later this month.

Thank you for stopping by my little blog I do hope you enjoyed your visit.

I am back & some cards made

Wow! that was a busy month I am now hoping it will slow down enough for me to make my Christmas cards,

I had quite a productive day today & made 5 Christmas cards, a birthday card & a notelet box containing 6 notelets.

Tonight I will show you several of the Christmas cards & the other things tomorrow & Thursday.

The cards were made using my never ending Hunkydory Christmas pack & there is still lots of it to use.  Then once Christmas is over I still have a lot of the Hunkydory prize pack that I won - so lots of work ahead of me.

Here are 3 of the Christmas cards

For all 3 cards I layered the background paper onto some gold paper to lift it from the base white card. The top one has the topper raised on sticky pads, but on the other 2 cards it is the sentiment which is raised.

I think I have finally decided on what stamped designs I will be doing for Christmas & must start on those soon.

Thank you for visiting my little blog - please call again soon.

birthday card

Good afternoon everyone - today I have a birthday card to show you, made for our son-in-law who lives in the USA.  I do find making cards for men somewhat of a challenge but recently bought some embossing folders which I am hoping will make the task easier.

I embossed the watches folder onto a piece of black card & then highlighted some of the embossing with Gleam gilding wax.  Then I layered this onto blue paper & mounted it onto a square black card - tent style.  The ship & the greeting were stamped in black ink & embossed with clear EP, then the images torn out to give some age to them.  I went around the edges with Black Soot distress ink to add a little more age & these were then mounted on sticky pads.

His birthday isn't until November, but you have to post them so early to make sure they arrive in time albeit generally a little early.

Thank you for visiting my little blog please call again.

snowman card

Good morning everyone today I have one of my snowmen cards for you - I finally got around to actually putting one on a card, leaving me 3 more to do.

I do think he is a cheeky chappy.  Another clean & simple design, I just inked the edges of the card with blue Distress Ink & added the "Merry Christmas" & "Let it snow" as a border.  This card will be going to one of the younger people I send to as will the others when they are finished.  He does have glitter on his hat on the bobble & cuff - I don't use glitter often but this just had to have some.

Thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Another Christmas card

Good afternoon I thought it was time I got around to showing you that other Hunkdory Christmas card that I had made recently;

These cards from the Hunkydory kit are all clean & simple layouts.  On this one I just used a piee of the backing paper complete with a border & the topper.  As in one of the other cards I used a peel-off greeting to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, please come back again soon.

Christmas cards

Hello everyone - well I have found a little time in my busy schedule at the moment to pop in & show you a couple more of those Hunkdory Christmas cards.

As in the one I showed you a couple of days ago - (no, I don't believe it - a week ago!) - I layered the background papers onto gold paper to lift it from the white base card.  This one the background paper had a built in border so I just needed to add the topper & sentiment.

On this card as well as the topper I used part of one of the borders.  There wasn't a sentiment in the kit that I liked for this card so I added a peel-off greeting.

With the making of these - & I still have one more to show you - the pile of Christmas cards is slowly growing, plus there is still lots of the kit to use.  So, watch this space - but it will be a little slow this month.

Thank you for popping in & please call back again.

getting sidetracked

Hello everyone

Yes - I have got sidetracked today from what I was planning to do.  On a shopping trip I noticed that several of the craft magazines have special offers - the best one being "Card Making & Papercraft" and "Quick Cards Made Easy" are on offer (at least in Asda where I saw them) with the two magazines on sale for £7 the 2.

As if that isn't a bargain they both have free gifts - one has a pack of Hunkydory Christmas background & topper sheets & one has a set of Christmas Stamps giving baubles & holly sprays.

The sidetrack?  Well, I just had to try the Hunkydory pack out & therefore haven't finished my snowman card.  So, here is one of the 4 cards I made this afternoon.

This uses one of the smaller toppers & a piece of one of the backing sheets.  I layered the backing sheet onto some gold paper to lift it from the white card.

That's me for today, thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Snowmans progress

Hello everyone - as this post is quite late in the evening it is going to be a quick one.  I have got a little further with my snowman stamp & here is the first stage of one;

I have coloured him with Promarkers & there is some glitter on the bobble & cuff of the hat.  It now needs to be cut out & put on a card.

I have also coloured another with different colours & he is on a card - I will show you that one tomorrow.

I am going to be busy most of this month which means I may blog rather infrequently - so please, if I do not write for a couple of days don't think I have disappeared.  I am hoping that with some of the things I have been doing I can put on some scheduled posts ahead of time as well.

Thank you for stopping by - please come back again.

A use it up session

Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.

After clearing my desk yesterday, & emptying a box that had been on the floor by my desk I found some die cut card for mens cards.  So rather than put it down again I made 2 cards from it;

I used some of the border that was on the sheet plus the main photo & a slightly smaller version plus a greeting, which I placed on sticky dots, all laid on black scalloped edged square cards.

So now - a problem - which of my new stamps am I going to try first!

Thank you for stopping by & please call again if only to see what I do with my new stamps.
'Bye for now.

Port Sunlight purchases

Hello everyone - sorry I have missed 2 days, but Friday was rather used up with going to Hulme Hall to aid the setup process for yesterdays stamp festival.  Then of course I had to go there on Saturday to see what there was that I needed - no - had to have.

In fact I was very good & didn't buy too much - here -

From the card man in the corner I bought a pack of square scalloped edged cards (you can just see the top of them in the photo); then from Clearly Besotted I bought some dainty floral images with matching dies & finally from Dreamees I bought six sets of stamps.  They had an offer of 3 of their £9.99 sets for £25 - so not to be ignored, & then I bought 3 other smaller sets.

Soo! plenty to play with - but first I will have to tidy my desk.

Thank you for dropping by - please call again soon.

a quartet of snowmen

Hi everyone
Today I took the next step to getting some images stamped of my new Snowman stamp ready for Christmas cards.  Just the black embossed image so far -

I have already coloured & cut out two of the images - but the light in my craft room was not good enough for photography.  Will do that tomorrow.

Tomorrow afternoon I am involved in the setup for the Happy Stampers Stamp Festival, at Port Sunlight, Wirral,  - so I will not have much time to do more with these images.  So I expect that I will work on them over the weekend - but possibly tomorrow evening I will show you those that I have coloured, & glittered!  I am not fond of glitter - but this little man needed some glitter.

If you are one of the many people attending the Happy Stampers Festival on Saturday - I hope you have fun & find lots & lots of lovely things to buy.

Why not leave a comment here - with how your day went, & what you bought.  Share photos if you can.

Thank you for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Please come back again soon.

A building block card

Good afternoon everyone

Today I have made a building block card.  I have seen them on Pinterest & a short while ago one of the ladies in my stamping club showed us all how to make one.  I am now going to show another club, so thought I had better make another one to see if I could remember how.

from the front - there's my favourite tulip stamp again

the inside

an attempt to show how the card looks fully

As well as making this card I actually used some alphabet stamps which I have had since forever & not used.  Well except for the letter for my name.  I will be using them much more now - they are lovely.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed your visit.
